zinc neodecanoate, also known as zinc salt of neodecanoic acid and CAS number 27253-29-8, is an effective malodor inhibitor by irreversibly reacting with odor-causing molecules such as hydrogen sulfide. It is also a useful catalyst for organic synthesis and polyurethane production. Structurally, it may form viscous linear polymers or less viscous tetra-nuclear clusters. Shepherd Chemical scientists used FTIR spectroscopy and viscosity to identify the key molecular species in different structures of this compound.
