About Tungsten Disulfide WS2:
Tungsten dioxide is an inorganic chemical compound that is made up of tungsten (and sulfur) and . This compound forms part of a series of materials known as transition metal dihalides. It is naturally found as a rare form of tungsten. This material is part of certain catalysts used for hydrodesulfurization and hydrodenitrogenation.
Witten Disulfide utilizes a layered structure like MoS2 or the exact type of MoS2, rather than a coordination field with W (instead Molybdenum Atoms) in an triangular prism. Due to the layered structure of WS2, inorganic nantubes were formed after heating a thin WS2 sample in 1992.
The majority of the WS2 are dark grey hexagonal crystals with a layered structural structure. It has similar characteristics to MoS2 which is closely related.
Although WS2 has long been thought to be fairly stable in ambient atmosphere, recent investigations into single-layer WS2 oxidation under environmental conditions have revealed that it is far from the truth. Photooxidation reacts quickly to make WS2 tungsten oxide. A single-layer of visible wavelength light can be absorbed into WS2 by the oxidation reaction (660 nm/>1.88 EV). A suitable wavelength light is required in order for the reaction to take place. The water used as a catalyst to oxidize water also needs to be present. You will see the reactions products as tungstenoxide or sulfuric acids. As well, ambient light and atmospheric conditions can also be used to observe the oxidation other semiconductor dihalides (STMD), such as MoS2.
Also, WS2 can be attacked with a combination of nitric and hydrofluoric. To tungsten dioxide, heat WS2 in oxygen-rich air. While WS2 is not able to melt when heated in an oxygen-free atmosphere, it can be reduced into tungsten, sulfur, and decomposed at a temperature of 1250°C.

How isTungsten Disulfide WS2 produced?
1. Roasting decomposition method:
After 3 hours of stirring ammonia at 57-60°C, tungstic acid reacts with the water. The heat preservation is left to settle for over 16 hours. After high-temperature burning and decomposition, the hydrogen sulfidegas reacts to produce ammonium.
2. Tungsten reacts with liquid sulfur very slowly. Sulfur vapor can be converted to red-hot tungsten to form WS2. Tungsten is mixed to stoichiometrically dissolved sulfur bloom, and heated to 800°C for 24hrs. To make WS2, react with nitrogen at 800°C.
3. Ammonium tetrathiotungstate can be used as the raw materials. After heating and decomposing, it rises from room temp to 700-1200, with a temperature gradient 100-200/hour when heated. It’s then kept at the room temperature for up to 24 to 48 hours. After that, the material is brought to room temperature and reduced by a temperature gradient of between 30 and 110°C/hour.

Tungsten disulfide-WS2 is a highly smooth friction coated made from dry film. The friction coefficient in WS2 (0.03) is significantly lower than that of graphite and PTFE. In comparison to other WS2, it is a much better performer in terms lubricity. It also has a low wear rate, wear life, friction and non-stick. It is widely used for electronics equipment, such as photocatalysis and transistors. Tungsten dioxide powder has excellent solubility when mixed with water and ethanol.
For extrusion molding applications, WS2 works well as a release substance for plastic molds.
