It is an anionic surfactant that can reduce oil-water interaction tension. It’s often used to prevent oilfield flooding. The strong degreasing capabilities of sodium heavy alkylbenzene sulfurate make it a good detergent as well as a degreasing agents. The sodium heavy alkylbenzenesulfonate is also a highly efficient dispersing and emulsifying agent. This can be combined with other additives to produce emulsified cutting and other oils.
